I remember in the 70’s - 2009 a tv garden show called the Victory Garden. Watched it religiously. Episodes are still available on You tube.During America's involvement in World War II (1941–1945), the Victory Garden Program strove to reduce demand for commercially grown vegetables, packaging materials, and transportation needs by encouraging Americans to grow their own produce and preserve and can their surplus harvest. There are those who collect memorabilia from that period also a Victory Garden National museum. https://gardens.si.edu/gardens/victory-garden/ Victory garden tv series.
I remember watching a show called The Victory Garden, but it was more recent. Weird that the Government didn't promote this more during the past 3 years.
I remember the Victory Garden radio program too. If I remember correctly it was "Crockett's Victory Garden" in the Boston area. I'm glad there are still devoted gardeners to keep the knowledge going. I still carry habits that came from my parents and grandparents' generation, but modified with modern research and technology. I hope I can pass my experience and lore to others. Currently we are still using pumpkins, squash, apples, potatoes from this fall. Also using frozen green beans and frozen tomato sauce and canned fruits and jams. This is from my Victory garden.
