Just checked with the news folks, the entire west side of the state is closed as far as schools are concerned, the few that were going to open a couple hours late are seem to be throwing in the ice-crusted towel. Tomorrow is supposed to be fairly clear, but a huge windstorm is headed our way! Saturday looks OK, so we might be going ice skating with the youth group, but Sunday is bringing another, sleet-and-ice filled storm. Apparently the snow has finally hit Seattle as it is suddenly important to the radio news guys.
We bought 2 sets of tire chains last year (read: no receipt anymore) didn't use them till now, and both have broken beyond hope. GRRR! :smt021
I'm bundled up like my well-insulated outdoor faucets and am headed out to swap out bunny bottles, pour boiling water into goat and chicken ice buckets, and toss some fresh bedding around. At least my animals can be unplagued by worry, by golly!

Sounds horrible CP! I hope the weather improves for you soon and you are able to get those chains fixed. We are expecting nasty weather starting tomorrow morning.

Yuck! I hope it clears for you and the animals, CP. Ice is just bad, except from when it's on big ponds.

Brr that does sound nasty! My kids would love the fact that schools closed though. Do hope you can keep your animals cosy, and of course, you!

lol, thanks Eileen. I really quite like the snow, it's just thinking of my sweetie out doing phone repairs in it, and he and my son driving in it, that gives me (pardon the expression) the chills.
Some winters the worst we get is hail. But I do remember winters like this when I was a kid and had the glorious feeling that comes with the official news that school was cancelled. Back then, we didn't have to make it up at the end of the year either!
O well, come August I'll be whining about the heat, lol!

Oh dear CP, I really feel for you and to think we Brits moan about a few inches of snow  Goodness knows how we would cope with the weather you get.
Hope you and your animal friends can keep warm :setf_024:

Oh goodness, we moan too. I think we are getting a little numb now though. A couple more inches fell last night, another big storm is about to blow in, and they are saying the winds hitting late Saturday/early Sunday will be cat 1 hurricane force. My son went to a friends house in town after work last night, and I really don't see him being able to drive home before Monday. Guess that's the big drawback to living out in the country. Sure is pretty, though. I just wish DH had one of those nice, warm office jobs right now, the kind where a guy with 25 years can call in sick on a day like this!

hey cp, (waving), we're over on the other side of the state and it's awful here too! we're 60 plus miles NW of Spokane. Spokane city was completely closed down on the 18th due to the storm. we had no news but what was happening in the city there all day and night. over 180 accidents in a few hours.

we have over 2 feet now and the storm that was supposed to go south and miss us made a direct hit last night and is still going strong! blizzard conditions and a terribly cold, strong wind coming from the north...the kind that sucks the heat right out of one's cabin.

i see the passes are closed now too...snoqualmie and stevens!

at least we're out of the below zero digits...up to 9F so far today!

eileen, i'll take one of those big hugs, if you don't mind! :D

Here in Michigan snow doesn't know when to stop. seems like we've been getting some snow every day since Novem. We just finished with a storm with another one coming in on tues thru wed. and another after christmas. What a crazy year. Will it ever end? It just came so early that I'm tired of it all already.

It seems the whole world's weather has gone mad, we had quite a bit of snow well before Christmas this year which has not happened since I can't remember when. I hope you don't get too snowed in Petunia.

Bunkie, when I feel whiney about having to change animal water twice a day, or (like yesterday) have to shut off the computer and spend more than 2 hours shoveling snow off the long driveway (with a rotten cold) I just think of Eastern Wa. to get my perspective off myself!
You're not kidding about the whole world's weather, this is nutty! But I was just reading about how Yorkshire had some truly spectacular snow around '49, and 20 years later practically nothing, and remember that, yup, weather is cyclical beyond what we see happen in a year or even a decade.
Whew, they must build strong roofs in Michigan. One collapsed here at an industrial building and (ironically) at an ice skating rink yesterday.
Glad to see you didn't lose power, Glendann!

Hope you all survive the horrific weather you're having up there to the North. Keep warm in front of the fire!

It sounds like I'm having similar weather to you Petunia. We have had snow almost everyday since the first week of November. I finished work on the 4th and it stared snowing on the 7th. I haven't even finished my yard work! Last Monday we had temperatures of +10°C and rain that melted almost all of the snow. The following day we had the first of a series of snowstorms that is STILL happening as I type. I am sooo sick of winter already and today is only the second official day of winter!!
