I've been telling people to watch out for those sidewalks. They are out to get you. I was walking with dr yesterday and had a tussle with a sidewalk and the sidewalk won. I tripped on a bit of sidewalk that was tipped up on one edge. Before I knew it I was face down on the sidewalk and out of breath. dr kept telling me to get up but I couldn't catch my breath. I finally got up on my knees and dr helped me up. I spent three hours in the hospital emergency room while they did some tests and a CT scan. They finally said it was just a contusion and the swelling would go down in a few days. I have a red, purple, blue and black eye and a big knot under it. I have a swollen lip with a scrape above it and my chin is black and blue. It will take a week or so to all disappear but nothing was broken. They told dr to watch for 24 hrs for dizziness, feeling sick, throwing up or feeling sleepy. He set the alarm and woke me up every two hours to check on how I was feeling. I'm doing okay today though I'm not ready to go out and about or argue with sidewalks yet.

Good heavens! I am so very, very sorry that you had a fall, and glad that the damage wasn't worse. Please take care, let your bruises and abrasions heal, and (I'm sure I speak for all the Stew members) continue to do okay and heal. God bless.

Thank goodness you didn't break your nose or your jaw Dooley. I hope you reported the bit of sidewalk so that it can be repaired before someone else gets injured. Take care of yourself and I hope you heal quickly and aren't in too much pain.

I'm sorry to hear you were hurt. Your poor face seems to have taken the brunt of your fall but any fall jars the entire body so everything hurts. Hope you are felling better soon.

The swelling has gone down quite a lot and the scrapes don't look so bad now. It still hurts a bit but I will survive. I walk another way now to miss that bit of sidewalk. The city does try to fix those places but this one evidently isn't bad enough yet. When people ask me what happened I tell them that the sidewalk attacked me. Sidewalks can do that but it's been quite a long time since I've had a fight with one. Mostly it happens to little kids. Now, I can say it happens to older people, too. dooley

Even if the walkway is not "bad enough" to fix, someone should highlight it with a florescent color of spray paint to make it more noticeable.
Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.

OH MY GOSH! I am so happy to hear that you are doing better and healing more everyday. Those darn sidewalks. There should be a shot to prevent sidewalk attacks. OUCH! I would have gotten my gun and shot the darn thing for attacking me with no provocation. :suspicious:
