It's been lately that when we have rain it's been in drops that you could count. Yesterday, it was 12 drops. So, with rain in the forecast for the next 8 days we expected a lot when it started to rain about 11 am today. I just checked the rain gauge and it's 8:19 pm and we have a grand total of six hundredth of an inch. It dripped on us all day. But, the forecast says there is an 80 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms before midnight. I looked at the radar and right now we are in between any rainy areas. Wonder how much rain we will get in the next three and a half hours. Of course there is always tomorrow and the next day and the next day. We could end up with half an inch if we are not careful.

    Rain... so longing for some!
Over here, every spring is wonderful, lush with green...everyone is happy and then summer comes, hot and dry.
    WHY? WHY? WHY?

We had more rain during the night. The rain gauge says almost two inches this morning. Whoopee! Still dark and rainy this morning. Hope it rains all day again today.

Oh Dooley, I know what you mean! Yesterday husband came in and reported nine, count them, NINE, drops of water on the patio! Then it started to drizzle shortly after noon, and kept it up, even raining all night. We have 2 and 1/8 inches of rain--the rain barrels overfloweth--and the temperature is in the high 60's.(Sure sign you're in Texas if you count raindrops.)
I just went out to check on the hens, and the daffy dozen are puzzled--rain is a relatively new experience for them. At least they aren't like turkeys, standing with their mouths open looking up during a downpour and drowning!

There's rain all around the area... and from the looks of the parking lot here at work (there's a low spot) there was a decent amount of rain here. Nothing at the house... hopefully it'll make it over there.

Strangely enough we here in my part of Scotland have had NO RAIN for a couple of weeks. The temperatures have been in the high twenties or low thirties and we're not used to them at all. We could do with a good downpour to refresh the garden and allow the birds to feed easier as the ground is just too hard. Even the hedgehog can't get into the soil for worms.

Just past noon today, July 15th, we are still having rain! It is a gentle, soaking rain, just what we needed. Our windows are open, there's a nice breeze coming in, and if the windowsills get damp, who cares :-D !

We have had about 7/8ths of an inch. The TexasRadar shows more swirling around from the south towards me...really hope that holds true.

I am between the F W on DFW about even with the second line on the F.

I saw all sorts of puddles and full ditches on my drive home, so I just knew that I had at least gotten some measurable rain. NOPE! Not even enough to get the dog's food wet. It's still cloudy but doesn't look like rain.
    :'(
But... it's only 80F! Middle of July and the temp is 80F in the middle of the afternoon
That's better than rain! Can always water... but can't cool off the outdoors.

Wow! Today, July 17, we are having rain again! This is unheard of in Texas in mid-July. There was just a clap of thunder, and the rain is coming down heartily.
This morning we cleaned the old grass out of the chicken coop and spread it on the garden, and replaced it with freshly mown grass. Good thing we did, since it doesn't look like mowing will be on the agenda for a couple of days.

We got another rain last night, just over another inch!! Radar shows lots of rain coming up from the Gulf of Mexico but it's heading more west than north so it's missing us so far.

We actually need a little wet, too. It was a terribly hot week and we are starting to see stress on the plants now. Last Wed we had 3" in just a little over an hour here.... it was a real gully washer.

We only got a quarter of an inch last night and .05 inches so far today. I haven't looked at the radar map yet. Just got home from shopping.

My office got another big down pour late this morning. But at home, there was only about 1/8th of an inch. Oh well... better than nothing.
I also noticed signs at the county line on my drive home... there is now a burn ban in effect for my county.
