Not quite like the weather people said it could be, it started 24 hours later than originally predicted. The sun had tried to break thru the clouds yesterday, keeping the thermal heating level high and temps above freezing.
But we did get roughly 1/4th inch of sleet on everything by morning. I even got to stand outside looking up at some tiny snowflakes falling, that is a cool sight.

My newly potted plants out front all had sleet and ice on them this morning. The leaves and flowers are coated with ice but everything should pick back up when the sun hits it this afternoon.

The backyard this morning....sleet on the ground, not snow.....durn it.

    More backyard this morning.

This birdbath out front has been frozen solid several times this winter but never with a mound in the middle

One large clump of ice hanging out of the gutter downspout...

Now you have seen the result of our ice storm. Don't laugh, it's the best we can do down here

Oh I'm not laughing Toni - OK well maybe a little :D I'm trying to imagine how a Texan would deal with the snow squalls we are getting today!
You got some nice shots of the ice there. That mound in the birdbath is a little curious though.

I'm glad Toni is happy! :D :D The pictures of the areas the news is showing must have had more ice; cars in ditches, having to backdown elevated mix masters, etc.. I think the sun is taking care of the ice pretty quickly. But if it gets below freezing tonight, everything wil re-freeze. Texans are prepared for something of this nature and magnitude. :(

Oh wow, not good, i hate ice, i would rather have snow anyday.
I know eh Netty, some would find our winters with all our snow squalls impossible to deal with.

Your garden even looks pretty under ice Toni. At first glance it looked like a bird had frozen to your birdbath also :D

I ended up with 6 in. of snow, 1/4 in of ice, and then 4 more inches of snow. It's past us now thank God.

As it normally does, the really heavy weather was north of us and south. A lot of the pictures of cars in ditches were in Denton county, they started getting the ice earlier just about time for going home traffic. The mixmasters were the large highway interchanges in both Ft. Worth and south of downtown Dallas. Those areas got more too.

Your garden certainly looks very pretty with the ice on it Toni. If you want any more then you can have ours. :p My pond has been frozen now for over a month and we have frost around a 1/4 inch deep at all times over everything. I wonder why the water in your bird bath froze with a mound in the middle - very unusual.
