When walking around the garden in the sunshine (which is rare at the moment) this morning I noticed quite a few of the daffodils had their buds. I do hope the cold weather which is forecast does not harm them.
Nothing like that here, Everything is buried under 10 inches of snow. But I did notice that the stems on my Mock Orange have started to turn red. That is an indication that the sap is moveing up into them. So I imagine the sugar maples and other trees are too.
Oooh, lovely buds! I'm not envious at all. Those very early bulbs have built-in de-freeze, and I'm certain they'll do fine if you get a cold spell now.
Beat me to it by at least a few weeks Gardengirl!! Mine are out of the soil and about 5" high but no signs of any buds yet.
Hells Bells! Not a bud in sight on mine, in fact, the foliage is only about 3 inches out of the ground....but then I don't want mine in flower for a while yet as I enter mine in the horticultural show in March!!
Really nice seeing your buds, GG! I get this itchy feeling now...the sort of itch that can only be scratched by the presence of spring! ;-) BTW, Capt. Kirk--what kind of Mock Orange do you have?
