We are thrilled to have won 1st. place in the first ever Holiday lighting contest in our development of almost 4,000 homes the award came from the Civic Assoc. (garden club) We did not know about the contest, we received a beautiful; card along with a Home Depot gift card, see last photo for card. also we got a yearly membership. It's nice to have our hard work appreciated. You can not see on photo's that our home is lit and displays go all around 4 sides. ( photo / image / picture from SusieQ07's Garden )
Well the committee obviously had very good taste and realised all the hard work involved in lighting your home and garden. I'm so pleased for you Susie as I've always loved the way you put on such a wonderful display over the festive season.
Only thing that's missing over here, is a bird's eye view picture (or a video) - Taken from a remote controlled helicopter, or from a camera mounted on a helium balloon! As that would make an excellent PC wallpaper shot! Many places online have photo competitions too, some even give cash prizes - Heck, because of this wonderful surprise, you guys should now start thinking of charging other people to decorate their homes for special events! I mean, why stop it here? Why not continue to ride this fortunate wave further!!! Seriously, decorating homes is a big part of event management - Which in my area of the world is a big business. And since you guys have already won a prize. Means that a bank would be forced to seriously consider a loan proposal to get such a business started! Just an idea!
Congratulations! That looks like an enormous amount of time invested to get them all done in time for the holidays. Me....a garland on the mantle (and my daughter did it this year) took all of five minutes or so to find it in the closet. sometime soon I'll take it down, a minute or two project .
Thank you all for the nice replies, did I mention that I will be 69 soon and dh=dear hubby is now 75, and we do all of this ourselves, while the young working couples on our street have professionals light up their homes, only the front of course at a base price of $450.00 OMG
