I have bought a 4 to 5 ft weeping willow. It is all black from the middle up w/ no growth, but the bottom half seems to be growing well. Should I cut it off where it appears to be dead and if so how should I trim it? It has been growing for abt 1 month now I was watering it daily but thought it may be too much so I slowed to every cpl of days.
I took a cpl pics of it but I don't know how to put them on here. I uploaded them to my garden, that is as far as I could get. I figured a visual may help someone identify the problem and suggest a solution. We ordered it from a nursery online along with a cherry tree and a bamboo. The other 2 plants are doing fine so far as I can tell. The cherry is growing but pretty slowly.

Thank you. As you can now see I have a problem. I have no clue what it is or what to do about. it. I planted it in a mix of the existing soil and organic potting soil miracle grow 50/50 mix. I was tempted to cut it just below the black and it has gotten farther down the last week also.
I'd cut away the black bit before it spreads any lower. Make the cut just about a quarter of an inch above the topmost healthy leaves. All trees grow from the top so, hopefully, once the black is taken off, the rest will grow well for you.
At an angle is always best. Try and make it a nice clean cut as ragged edges can lead to other problems. Good luck and I hope your tree survives. :-D
