I have never seen a beastie like this. Two days now, been sunning himself atop some potato plants. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Or more likely a ladybird larva! If by potato beetle, Colorado beetle is meant, then their larval stage looks nothing like that.
Thanks guys! Its a Harlequin Ladybird larvae! https://www.field-studies-council.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/OP152-Ladybird-larvae-1130x1600.jpg
Wish we had a few thousand of even Harlequin ladybirds at the moment. Not seen any at all here so far this year.
They’re over here, Eileen. They have been eating aphids like the clappers. Chomp, chomp, chomp, chomp. My broad beans had a few tops black with flies, the next day I went to challenge the aphids and they were all gone…the ladybirds sleeping it off on the leaves.
Yes, I felt lucky as I have seen very few ladybirds so far this year. Now they are all over the place. That’s me chuffed to bits.
