I have never seen a beastie like this. Two days now, been sunning himself atop some potato plants.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

    Could be potato beetle larvae.

Or more likely a ladybird larva!
If by potato beetle, Colorado beetle is meant, then their larval stage looks nothing like that.

Wish we had a few thousand of even Harlequin ladybirds at the moment. Not seen any at all here so far this year.

They’re over here, Eileen. They have been eating aphids like the clappers. Chomp, chomp, chomp, chomp.
My broad beans had a few tops black with flies, the next day I went to challenge the aphids and they were all gone…the ladybirds sleeping it off on the leaves.

Lucky you. We have the food for them if they ever turn up.

Yes, I felt lucky as I have seen very few ladybirds so far this year. Now they are all over the place. That’s me chuffed to bits.

Lady bugs usually will set up their home in the west facing windows for winter. And inside .
