I have had these three Christmas Cacti for a few years and each December they have bloomed their little hearts out. But last December I got nothing from them, same location they been in for years on a shelf in front of the north window in my craft room. They get the proper amount of dark and light hours to create blooms as proven by previous years but last year they must have decided to take a break from their strenuous routine of blooming one month a year and slept through December.

Then a couple of weeks ago I took them down to water and found about 8 buds forming.

And this morning I found the first fully opened bloom..

There is a bud on the red that should open today and the others are still really tiny so they will be a while.

Toni, perhaps your Christmas cacti knew you'd need a lift of spirits in January, and put off blooming!
Simply lovely, and so welcome at this non-blooming time of year.

Neither of my Christmas cactus bloomed. I guess I need to make sure I find the perfect spot for them. :'(

I love it when mine burst into flower. Sadly they've all past now but they were beautiful blooms for a while.
