Just the small stuff hit us, nothing in my yard larger than pea size ... that's Pisum sativum. It came down fast and heavy for about 20 minutes, not sure there will be much damage to newly planted veggies but I'll check on them in the morning.
But it was accompanied by 6/10ths of an inch of rain, so that will help the plants that were not damaged.

The rain sounds good. Hail is no fun at all, especially not when it's big and heavy. Those things sting!

Toni, I'm so glad you posted, and that the severe storms in North Texas didn't do much, or any, damage for you. I was going to post and ask, but thought you might be getting tired of my "Oh, Toni, are you all right?" posts!
We had 1/2" of rain and are now enjoying (?) high winds.

Not tired of your concern at all Jane, I appreciate being thought of. This morning I had to take my youngest to physical therapy and knew I would be gone for 2-3 hours so I figured posting about it before I left would keep you from worrying until I got home and could answer any questions.

I was really pleased to find that there was no damage to any plants, really thought there would considering how heavy the hail came down for those 20 minutes.

Great that your plants avoided serious damage, Toni. Are hail storms yearly a common thing there where you live? We get them too from time to time, and here they can be pretty devastating.
20 minutes seems like as long time for those ice balls to fall.

Sjoerd, some years we get several hail storms between Feb and May, sometimes earlier in the year sometimes later....just depends on how warm the temperature is when a cold front moves through. The last few years they have been less frequent but some are even more damaging. Spring is our volatile time of the year weather wise.....if a storm doesn't bring hail and heavy rain, it could bring tornadoes. The other night there was a tornado west of us and hail all over our immediate area.

20 minutes was a long time, but that was a slow moving storm system and thankfully the hail was small.

I have to say Toni, that I find this interesting to read about. Do you live more inland or close to the coast? It sounds like an inland phenomenon.

We are 289 miles north of Galveston...as the crow flies and right on the Gulf Coast. I know that Houston, which is 239 miles south, has had hail storms but I don't know about further south.

Gad, that's inland alright. I was at Galveston once. I stayed in the Holiday Inn in down by the water. Witnessed a shooting in a nearby supermarket parking lot. Those were exciting days for a visitor.
