I look forward to seeing your photographs. I do sooo like to visit the 'save and rescue' shelves of garden centres here as you pick up some great bargains like the ones you managed to get.

There are flower morgues? At Home Depot too? (That's closer to me.) How exciting! I'll have to go find out where they've put it!

Ronni... our Home Depot doesn't have a mark-down rack... just Lowes.
Geez... now I have the urge to go see what they have!

I think Home Depot just tosses the old plants in the trash instead of putting them on sale, there are 3 HD's not too far from me and none of them have ever had a sale rack.

The Home Depot I worked at does a markdown section. Perhaps it depends on the store? Maybe you could talk to the Store Manager and vendors about doing it, they may not realize that people would be willing to purchase flowers that arent so great looking. Making friends with the vendors is a great way to get deals on plants ;)

Donna, I don't understand why you put chicken wire around the hydrangea in that first picture. The other one isn't as protected, so I got curious. I'm pretty new to gardening, so it may be very obvious to everyone else, but not to me. :)
