I couldn't wait another day, another hour or another second....It was sitting there on my counter looking so nice. It smelled sooooooo nice ....so with my steak tonight I HAD to eat my first tomato of the season...It was FABULOUS. Not very seedy, nice amount of "meatiness" and great flavor. I also picked a few leaves on my basil and had that with the tomato. What a nice accompaniment to my steak.

Last year I didn't get a single picked tomato until well into august. I am so PSYCHED!

Yippeeeeeeeeee.... I'm so glad that you couldn't hold back. I would have felt like a total weakling if you had been strong enough to resist. I never can. In fact, the first tom never lasts from one side of the garden to the other with me.
I just give it the gentle squeeze test...then SNAP! then... BITE! :-D ....................heaven.

Congratulations for the first tom. Lucky so-and-so.

Awww 'tisn't fair!! :( You're all eating the friuts from your garden and all I've had are a few strawberries and cherries. Still, I'll be scoffing mine when yours are all but finished. ;)

Sounds like the tomato lived up to your expectations! :D It certainly looks deliciuos sitting there. Nothing's ripe outside here, so I'll have to wait too.

Oh my, tomato and basil is a match made in heaven! That looked, and I say looked, like a beaut! Liek Sjoerd, my first tom is eaten selfishly on the allotment, when I am all alone, the same with most first pickings, I always scoff them. Very jealous, I won't be picking any until August!

If it was MY tomato, it wouldn't have made it to the counter either!
