Nothing like a little perspective, and reading posts on here from people in the Midwest who are getting whoomphed by snow was ideal! We are due for a bit more here in Wa. I have about 7 inches with the big storm due to hit Wednesday. Big worry around here is when a big snow like that is followed by a sudden warming. Then we get serious flooding. Aaaand, things at this point are kinda lining up that way. we shall see...
I tried to take a walk in it with my daughter, but her gloves were soaked in about 5 minutes and she wanted to come home, silly girl  So glad for plant books to daydream over!

I am happy to be in Texas where there is very little snow. We had heavy rain last Monday so I was a bit concerned about today but all we got were clouds, no rain. It was very warm today, t-shirt weather. Is that boasting. I had nothing to do with it, God provides what weather we need or don't need.
I hope you don't get floods though.

I noticed today while out running around that the drainage ditches are still pretty full after that last big rain. Which is a very welcome sight after this past year. But I did think... if we got another one like that right now, we'd have some flooding problems.
Geez... not enough of this... or too much of that.
I just hope everyone's weather doesn't dish up some disastrous results.

It has been down in the teens here and today started out at 19 now it is up to 40 and tomorrow is supposed to be in the upper 40's with lots of rain and by Thur. night 13....I told my sister it was sunny and 70 here  on friday (of couse it wasn't) , this IS Ohio you know, give it 5 min and that weather will change (this should be our state motto)... yep, in 20 min or so, by the time she arrived at work, it was 20f and snow an inch deep on the ground. Needless to say she was highly dissapointed that she missed that little window of warm weather. She knew I was teasing, though!

Oh yes, Cheryl, our part of Texas gets about 37" of rain a year, and I remember the night it came down! (Sorry, I borrowed that from an old farmer's saying).
We have water standing in fields, water in the drainage ditches, and our pond is overflowing. Nice while you got it!

Here in Scotland we have -7 degreesC with a ground frost so thick that it looks like snow. With all the standing water, from recent torrential rains, in surrounding fields now frozen solid it's not the most pleasant weather BUT at least it's nothing like the 5 foot of snow we had at this time last year.

Mary I hope the weathermen are wrong and that you don't get any more snow. Flooding is always a worry of mine too when we have either deep snow or a tremendous amount of rain. Take care and I'll keep my fingers crossed that the white stuff stays away from your area.

Severe weather is never easy. I hope your weather is mild and you do not have to deal with flooding.

woah, they closed Stevens?? Hadn't heard that! I'm on the West side, and feeling totally unprepared. At the place we just moved from in November, we were well aware of the possibilities of trouble and kept a stock of food, water, candles, firewood, and whatnot. We hadn't even given a thought to getting ready here. But my neighbor already can't get out of his driveway, and the storm isn't even hitting 'till 9 tomorrow morning, eep! Think I'd better walk up to the corner store & pick up a few supplies!

I'm still not gonna grump, but, we got over a foot of snow overnight & it's still falling. Everything around here is closed though my sweetie and my son both had to navigate their way to work (ack!) It's sooooo quiet outside though!

Let's all be thankful we don't live in Alaska! The news showed where they got 27 feet of snow! Don't remember where at.

Well CP the weather hadn't been too bad until today. The freezing rain on the foot or more of snow has made for some great photographs but...I am ready to be back to work and things are shut down. Hope you have been lucky enough to keep your electricity. So many have lost theirs. The tree branches breaking sounded like rifles going off here in town. Lots of neighbors got some unexpected tree trimming from mother nature. Stay safe.

we did lose power, right after my last post. It just came back on. Another thing I love about our new place: we still have running water when the power goes out. And because our tank is gas, we have Hot water when the power goes out. I suspect a few friends who aren't scheduled for repairs till Tuesday, might be by to borrow showers tomorrow. I went to evaluate the damage at my church's garden, and saw way more breakage in the azaleas than I was ready for. Sounds like the campground is pretty torn up too. There are trees all around here that just split in two. Huge old trees that gave up and fell across power lines... well, gotta take on a big project one small chunk at a time. This is going to take a while...
