Haven't had one of these heavy rain/hail storms in about 3 years but it made up for lost time tonight.

These range in size from 5/8ths inch/2 cm to 2 inches/5 cm

It's too dark to see if there is any damage in the yard and I don't think the car windshield is damaged but the car is covered in pock marks I'm sure.

On a scale from one to ten, how scary?

I imagine it doesn't make for a most enjoyable time while it happens. Hope there is no damage to your yard Toni.

Hope too much damage was not done. In Texas it is never dull with the tornados, hail, freezing rain and huge flux in temperatures. Hang in there and hope all recovers quickly.

Hailstones can certainly cause lots of damage can't they? I just hope your garden and car are OK Toni. Has the storm passed over now? If it has let's keep our fingers crossed that another doesn't appear.

    Land sakes alive, Toni!!!
What's going on there. That could be devistating to farmers with plantlets in the fields...not to mention folks with gardens and garden plants.
I also hope that your marvelous collection of junque has not suffered.

My eyeballs just hung out on their stems when I saw the amount and size of some of the hail balls. Cor!

Come back and give us a sit rep after it has all melted please.
    Dreadful, this.

Oh my gosh Toni! I hope things don't look too bad this morning. We used to get hail storms once in a while when I lived in Virginia... they can be very damaging... Hope all's well...

Toni, when I heard of the storms passing through north Texas and Oklahoma, I immediately thought of you. I'm so sorry you were in the path, and I do hope no serious damage was done. Hail is worse than high winds, and twice as damaging.
Let us know how you fared. Until then, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Oh Toni, at 5cm the stones can make quite a mess. I can not imagine coming out unscathed. Judging from the tree debris it's awful. :( :(

Hope those storms wore themselves out down there, before they get to us tonight and tomorrow.

Good morning all. What a night. Frank, since there was no chance of a tornado in our area, the whole event wasn't that scary. The winds did reach over 60 miles per hour at times and the hail was coming down do hard and fast that it looked like fog making it difficult to see the house across the street. The warning sirens did sound in the midst of the heavy hail but that was just as a warning about the hail and high winds not a tornado.

It hailed here for about 30 minutes starting out as pea size and gentle, then up to 2" and being bombarded. Some of the hits on the car and roof sounded like bricks being dropped on us.
Thankfully none of the house windows were broken either.

We can't see if there is any roof damage because of the covering of fallen pecan tree leaves and there is still a layer of hail that hasn't melted yet. The yard is still covered with hail too since it was so thick and not warm enough overnight to melt it all.

We do know that my car will have to meet the insurance claims adjuster about the damage it received. The windows are all intact but it is covered in 'dings' aka dimples. Randy's truck is okay since he was doing the storm spotter thing and was sitting under a major overpass during the storm to report what was going on in his location.

Pretty much all my plants have been damaged to some extent, with hail that size and fast it would be a miracle if they hadn't been. My tomatoes, Basil and Sage are history, being beaten down to the ground. I am hoping that the perennials will recover with a few days of warm sun.
Most of the Lily buds are laying on the ground....not attached to their stems. The annuals might not be as resilient though.

How heart-breaking to hear of so much damage. I'm sure you'll get most things back to normal in a few days.
Just don't over do it and hurt your back again!

Glad to hear there was no major damage. Plants are mostly resilient so hopefully they will recover. Please don't overdo working, the health of your back is more important than a plant.

I have never seen such big hail stones. What a nightmare. Such a shame for your plants, and your car! Glad you don't have these pass through your way too often, although once is to often.
