There's a Daylily Farm not too far from home. I was going to wait until Spring when they are blooming to go buy some, but decided I'd rather get some planted now. I studied their website and made myself a list, sorted by all sorts of criteria. Like whether they were early, middle or late bloomers. Whether they rebloomed or not. Fragrant or not, etc. And of course by their colors.
These are the ones I came home with (photos from their website with permission to use here).

The couple that runs the place were extremely nice, knowledgeable and helpful. It was a nice set-up and all the plants looked so healthy. All I had to do was ask for a plant by name. The guy would look it up in his book. Go to it's designated row & space number... and there was it's tag. The wife was in charge of digging them up, writing down their name on a label and bagging them up.
I'm looking forward to going back in May when everything is blooming. And hopefully by then, I will be able to post photos of my very own!

A great color selection Cheryl. The only one I have is the Catherine Woodbury. Do you know if any are re-blooms?

    Thanks Jerry.
The re-bloomers are: Evening Enchantment, Pearl Harbor and Double Down.

Toni... it's just about halfway between Houston and Beaumont. The name of the place is Kenefick Daylily Farm.
I tried NOT to go there... but, alas. I am weak.
    Darn flower addiction!
    ;)

You chose a great selection. That 'Evening Enchantment' looks very similar to my 'Rue Madelaine' and the stunning white 'Rocking Cradle' caught my eye. Very nice!

Boy am I glad that the Kenefick Daylily Farm is nowhere near me!! I think I'd go a little mad and just HAVE to buy at least a couple of dozen different varieties. Now all I have to do is wait for yours to flower so that I can drool over them. :stew1:

Cherylad--Those daylilies are gorgeous. I particularly like Siloam Double Classic and Pearl Harbor. Then again, Rocking Horse is beautiful and so is Catherine Woodbury. And also.... (you get the picture).

Eileen.... I will have to restrain from making myself a frequent visitor. Or... I could just start another Daylily bed?
    :-D
And I have high hopes for these... unlike the bulbs I bought from one of the big box stores this past winter. Out of the whole bunch that I bought, only the Asiatic Lilies grew. Maybe just one of the Day Lilies grew.
These have been growing at the farm for years, so I know they are the right plants for this climate.

Cayuga... It was a hard task trying to choose just a few. If they were in-bloom.. I probably would have left there with a truck-load!

Cherylad--I can so relate. There is a daylily house near where we live and I have to restrain myself!

Oh my, they're all so pretty! Since I'm such a sucker for yellow, I think my favorite would have to be "Double Down" - They're all gorgeous though Cherylad and judging from your garden pictures, I know they'll all grow great in their happy home!

    Thanks Art!
The Double Down and the Paris Lace (the last 2 that I got) weren't even on my list. But the lady at the farm was telling me about how prolific & hardy they were and very early bloomers. So I said... "Give me one of each!". And that is how I OVER spent by allotted funds.
    :-o

    Very pretty ones!
So the wife dug up clumps? All same price?
I dug up some of mine to send in a trade and I had to cut through the clump. Made me feel a bit sorry. There was no way I could separate without some "cuts".
I hope they don't suffer much.

Yes Calin... it was a very easy process. The plants weren't crowded. Most of the them were around 8-10 inches from end to end. So she just got out her 3-prong tool (don't know the real name of it). Stuck it down near the base of the plants and gently raised them up. The beds were well prepared. The soil looked great and it was nice and loose. And they were recently mulched.
So no damage to the plants at all and no "cutting" since they are "individuals".
And they were various prices and most were double-fans. One was $3, most of the one's I got were $5 and a couple were $10. There were more expensive one's on their website, but I didn't include those on my wish list.... I would have REALLY gone broke there! :-D

I bought a de groot cherry wine daylily root from meijers on clearance yesterday. Well, I went to plant it and it was rotten looking, very soggy and empty tubers. Is it supposed to look like that and will it grow.
