Kroger sells some garden plants this time every year and if you don't get there soon they sell out. The prices are good and the plants are the same quality as the garden centers. I had seen the May Night Salvia there last week but missed out on those since I waited until yesterday to make up my mind to buy them.....like I really need more plants. Salvia 'Balsalmisp' aka Mystic Spires Dwarf Salvia, it is a dwarf version of Indigo Spires. Boltonia asteroides var. latisquama 'Masbolimket' JIM CROCKETT common name sometimes either false aster or false chamomile. The flowers are a very, very pale purple Summer Love Dwarf Chenille Plant, Acalypha 'Summer Love'
Very pretty...I can't wait to get out and buy some different plants, I try to buy at least one a season of one I don't have.. Our grocery stores have plants outside too. Not all of them but some..
Kroger is the only one that sells garden plants around here. They all sell houseplants and cut flowers tho.
Well done once again Toni. One can never have too many plants. Our grocery store here won't sell plants atleast until May. Question on your last picture. Is that plant may also be called 'love lies bleeding' or am I thinking of a differant plant altogether? Great finds though, I love the colors.
Love Lies Bleeding is Amaranthus caudatus Chenille plant is also called Red Hot Cats Tail But the tassels do look very similar.
Erm ... dare I ask? Where are you going to put them Toni? You must be running out of space by now!!! Remind me that if we ever meet up we'll both have to have our hands tied behind our backs if we see plants for sale!! I do like your choices though especially the salvia.
I can't wait to go plant shopping! Sometimes I can find a garden center open around the middle of April. Great plants Toni! I love the Salvia
You really founds some great plants toni.I sure like the slavia color.I love all the colors and plants.
Oh fun - love the chenille plant. My grocery store has nothing of interest yet, just tulips and pansies mostly... but I'll be watching as they always bring in a great batch of herbs later on which go pretty quick.
Toni, you always find such great buys! Its difficult to find those here in Buda! Congrats and nice pics.
Nice looking flowers, Toni--boy did you ever score! Where will they come to stand? You have the most incredible nose for bargains.
Glad my new plants cheered you all up. Eileen and Sjoerd, the backyard is pretty much on overload this year but the front yard is a blank canvas just waiting for them. The Chenille plant is going in a hanging basket on the front porch. Eileen, come on over I have found 3 garden centers that I wasn't aware of before and need to check out, plus one that specializes in Native plants and one that is organic...you would need your own boat for getting back home. Kuntrygal, we had Quesadillas because I was playing with plants and forgot to thaw anything else out.
Great finds Toni. Our garden center isn't sporting much as of yet and the grocery stores don't usually have much you would want to pay for. I'm going to order some seeds online today and start planning my seed starting day. I won't be able to put anything outside till around Memorial day, to be safe, and I just sort of realized it's April already. Time to start getting organized, planting seeds and planning my new space. Have fun planting your new plants and don't forget to post pics of them in. Thanks for sharing.
