Posting from beautiful Kauai, Hawaii Islands! So gorgeous. I'm in heaven! Tired and achy a bit still, even after a long night's sleep. Two very long plane rides got me here, and I'm just not used to sitting for that long and unable to move and stretch. Today is a recovery day, laze around, sit by the pool, lie on the beach, take it easy. Over the next several days we have plans/reservations to go zip lining, snorkeling, tubing, riding. But today, we rest. Couple views from plane on approach to Kauai The airport...so different from Nashville or LAX airport! Bit of scenery enroute to the Hotel Entrance to the resort. We're staying at the Grand Hyatt. Lobby area: View of one of the courtyards from lobby: A couple of views of the grounds: View from my room:
I don't suppose you like to swap and come to a very cold, dark and rainy Scotland would you? No I thought not. I can only dream of being in a place like Kauai but your photographs go a long way to make me see places I'll never get a chance to visit.
It all looks smashing, Ronni. Oh, you're going to have a great time. I spent a few months there once whilst making a trip around the world and enjoyed every minute of it. I enjoy the tropical climate and the tropical plants. Have a great time and keep those pics coming.
We've been hiking, snorkeling, swimming, relaxing. What a vacation!!! Yes, I know I look ridiculous! That's kind of the point.
What a beautiful place! It looks like you and your family are having a great time. Please keep the pictures coming!
WOW your photographs just keep getting better and better. The scenery is to die for isn't it? I'm so glad you're enjoying your holiday as it looks like you're all have lots of fun!!
We went zip lining yesterday! Kauai has some of the longest lines in the nation apparently. There was one line that was over 3,000 feet long! Woohoo! The scenery was amazing, the lines were really fast, and the guides were awesome! There were several times I thought I was going to die but it was nonetheless the most exhilarating feeling jumping off those platforms right into space! and then going, in a couple cases, 60 miles an hour, through the air, wind whipping at my face, eyes streaming behind my glasses (which were tethered to my head just in case) and seeing that stunning, breathtaking scenery stream by! Geared up and ready to go. We were driven in a big jeep to the jump off spot, and then had to climb an endless wall of steps to get to the platform. First run. Can you see the line...upper left hand corner of the photo? And the landing platform, way off in the distance! You just step off into space and the line and harness combo carries you across. A view from one of the platforms. Apparently parts of one of the Jurassic Park movies was filmed in this general area. I can absolutely see why! Another vista. You can see one of the platforms in the distance on the right hand side. Havin' the time of my life! So many stars and/or ramps to get to the next jumping off point. Good thing I'm fit! Another one of the longer lines with the landing platform waaaaaay off in the distance WHAT A RUSH!!!!
Looks like you are having a great time.. I would be waving at you from ground level, not doing no ziplines!!!!
