My brother was cleaning out the basement of a house he is working on and found a bunch of treasures that had been left behind. He called and ask me if I wanted them and of course I did. Here are a couple of the antique glass bottles we found. The one with the Gothic design dates back to 1865 and the wine jug was about 1940. As soon as I get new batteries for my camera today I will post pictures of the rest of the treasured items we found. 1940 1/2 gallon wine jug ( photo / image / picture from GrandaddyDayCare's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from GrandaddyDayCare's Garden )
Ooh, fun finds. They are pretty. I really like how the 2nd picture looks - it's a great shot. I can imagine it blown up and framed.
Treasures indeed!! I really like the 1/2 gallon wine jug and would have it displayed in my own home if I could. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the treasure trove.
Now you've got us all wondering. Go get those camera batteries - we need to see the rest of those basement goodies. :-D
Great finds GDC! I love old bottles and have a little collection of them myself. Can't wait to see the other stuff
I'm with Daisy on that 2nd photo!! Too Cool 8) That is my fantasy...come upon a huge treasure trove of old antiques and collectibles that have been stored away for years and years...No kidding, I've had a dream about that The only thing I like more than my flowers are antiques. My perfect day would be flower/antique shopping
Ooh Stratsmom, imagine a combined nursery/garden center/antiques shop!!! Wouldn't THAT be amazing??? I am imagining beautiful plants in beautiful antique containers showcased in/on antique furniture... perhaps some hand painted with wildflowers and foliage... Old fashioned shrubs and perenials... And a whole section dedicated to "antique" plants, veggies and seeds!
I'm so glad your brother had the sense to save those treasures and bring them to someone who will appreciate them. Lovely bottles indeed.

Gorgeous stuff, all of it, but I especially liked the sunflower platter. It must have brightened many meals for someone.
