Indeed, what a racket. I have thrown open all of the windows to let the new year, and fresh air into the house, and the bird song is wonderful. An afternoon dawn chorus. Could it be...could spring really be in the air?

I wish you had spring there. All that cold and snow is so tiresome. We have a sunny day here but it's not as warm as yesterday. There are cardinals flitting about from bush to bush. I think they must be my favorite bird.

WOW! I have never heard of a morning chorus THIS early in the year. I hope that there is something to this wonderous experience over there. I shall keep my ears open for that--I see plenty of merels (blackbirds) on my bike trips.

I have a merel in the tree just outside my window here and some days...there are TWO! Sooooo--there may be some chatting-up going on out there.

    *scowling at our snow*

I hope your spring is arriving, EJ, but please understand that I'm green with envy. :D By this rate we might get spring in April.

We still have cold weather forecast, sadly. The car thermometer only peaked at 2'c today when we went out for lunch so still chilly. However, I spy daffodil bulbs poking through. GLEE!

Cold here. And the worst part of our winter here is ahead. January and February are always the coldest and if we are going tohave snow, that's usually when it comes. Two more months till Spring here, most likely.

The quail aren't thrilled with the cold weather, being a warmer climate feathered friend, but I am providing them with masses of straw to snuggle down in, and they all clamber into just a few clay plant pots, all cuddled up to keep warm. The Guinea pigs do the same. If they pull threw this winter okay, then they are the toughest birdies ever.

There is nothing like some open windows and fresh air when the winter weather is taking a break!
We had days of dreary, cold snowy weather, and today, the sun popped out! I heard some birds singing too! They were probably discussing the weather and how tired they were of sitting in nests, waiting for nicer temps! :D
