It is stunning today. Blue sky as far as the eye can see, no clouds, a light breeze. Just beeeeeeeeeeutiful. Now the gas man has been, and I have finished the housework, I am going to go out to the front garden and do some weeding. Hope you are all having a lovely day.
It must be lovely to have some warmth and sunshine after such a hard winter EJ. Send some of that good weather my way please.
Warmth we have not, so please, any surplus this way, via Eileen of course. Enjoy your wonderfully gorgeous day, EJ.
If I could bundle some up and send to you both, I would in a jiffy. I am sitting here drinking a quick coffee, listening to all the birds. They are being so noisy today. I have seen lots of blackbirds at dusk and they are so loud! I have also seen to butterflies today, a coppery coloured one, and a lime green one. Now, I would like to get back out into the garden, but the kids don't like me out there when they are playing. I have mananged to re-edge my path, scarrify the lawn and start edging the borders. So, as I can't get into the garden for an hour or so, I shall just have to go sow some seeds in trays in the conservatory.
WEhave the same beautiful weather over here. It is a delight. It sounds like you are enjoying your good luck the fullest.
Yet another gorgeous day today. Out and about with mum and the kids all morning, but I managed to spend the afternoon in the garden. Edged and reseeded one half of the lawn, planted a stack of summer bulbs mum had for me, put up 6 bird boxes around the garden and finally sowed 25 different varieties of squash. Bliss bliss bliss, and apparently, the weekend is going to be even better, which is great and Mark and I are going to clean out the pond, find the darn leak, and create a stream!!!
More nice weather...that's great! So, cleaning out the pond. I hope that you don't have to re-line it. It was good to read about what you have been able to do, buuuuuut.....some piccies are also welcome, EJ.
So nice to hear you are enjoying your mum and your time in the gardens... I would sooo love to see your plots, they sound amazing.
Toni - Summer bulbs....gladioli, ixias, spr something, crocosmia, alliums, dutch iris....can't think what else. Mum got a huge box full on a special offer from a seed company, and all she had to pay was £1. Don't know how they will do, a bit late I feel for planting them, but for a pound, even if only half do the business, it was a bargain. Sjoerd - I don't think we will have to reline the entire pond...(she says keeping her fingers crossed). There are about 5 big dollops of frogspawn, so I want to get it sorted so that can get back in before it starts to become taddies. It doesn't look so good does it. I shall have to post a picture or 2 when we have sorted it. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) I purchased a perrenial wall flower today, Bowles Purple is the variety. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) And here is a piccy of my latest bird box. This one is intended for robins or larger birdies. The chap who makes them for us has done lots of research, and apparently the birds are attracted to the red and it is a good colour for nesting boxes and bird tables. Well, all I can say is, the bluetits love the red boxes! ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden )
I think your pond is adorable, and so is the bird house. Congrats on the summer bulbs. Up here we'd start gladioli and sparaxis about now, since we can't plant them outside for another month or so.
