I have used bone meal when I plant bulbs, just sprinkle the recommended amount in the hole at planting time and cover with a small amount of soil, I have never used blood meal. The only drawback is the fact that the smell of it attracts animals and they may dig in your garden trying to get to it.
I've never used Bloodmeal either. But I do use Bonemeal when transplanting to give root growth a boost. I've never had an animal dig things up afterwards.
Well Netty, you have to consider the fact that I live in Louisiana, we have Cajun animals. And you know what they say about Cajuns, they will eat anything that doesn't eat them first, so I guess the same holds true for the animals around here. lol
I have mixed the bone meal with epsom salt and sugar and used it as a transplant booster. It worked pretty well. I have used blood meal on pansy plants, but now avoid it like the plague!
Likewise never used bloodmeal, but I do occasionally use the bonemeal for bulb plantings. What is bloodmeal for, anyway? Iron?
