    I can't really tell, there are many black birds to choose from. Did you happen to catch a side view picture? Might be easier to ID it by the wing feather details.

    It looks very similar to our female blackbirds but I realy don't have a clue if you have them where you are. :-?

    That's a Cowbird Barb. This bird lay's it eggs in other birds nests.

    B, we don't have cowbirds here except during their winter migration and I don't think I have had any in my yard. But I found a picture of a Male Brown headed Cowbird that looks like you photo.

    They sre pretty but what we call cow birds there are white and are always following cows around and sit on top of them.Sometime there are lots of then in the pasture.Egrats I think is the name of the birds in Texas.

    I have always called the white bird that you see out in the fields with cows...a cow bird. Thought I was the only one that called them that.

    There is a species in the Heron family called the Cattle Egret, they follow cattle and other large mammals around to eat the insects and small creatures they stir up. You see them all over the place in pastures and have the nickname of cowbird.

    Your photo is of the actual Cowbird, they also follow cattle and large mammals around to eat the insects the animals scare up.

    Another instance where a nickname and scientific classification sometimes gets confused.
