It is said that growers of veg usually have a hungry gap in late winter thru to early spring once everything has been harvested. Seems I am doing okay! Leeks, spring onions, jerusalem artichokes (sunchokes), spuds, carrots, beetroot and parsnips. Still plenty on the plot, and lots of greens now, but I didn't pick them as I didn't want them for tea.

    Long live the allotment! :-D

I see a large vegie soup in the pot for tonight. Everything still looks as good as what you picked last summer.

Tonight I had roasted veggies, all chopped into big chunks, chucked in a roasting tin, drizzled with olive oil then cooked slowely until sweet and tender. Had this with a little pasta and some mozzerella. YUM! Tomorrow I think soup. :)

There's nothing like the taste of home-grown veggies is there? They definately have much more flavour than those you buy in the shops. Your allotments are definately worth their weight in gold EJ. :stew1:

On the mend kuntrygal....infact, I would say 99% better. The swelling has finally gone but I have been left with a hard lump in the knuckle which I assume is the splinter in it's calluse, as the surgeon predicted. I get a very slight twinge when I press directly on the lump, and I don't think I will ever be able to punch anyone on the nose with my right hand, but it is no longer a hinderance, thank goodness.

I just visualized EJ walking down the street, throwing punches left, right and center, and carrying her lovely veggies in a granny basket on the other arm. :D

I'm so glad to hear it is better. But also glad to know you won't be able to punch anyone out...at least with your right hand! :D

Ha ha ha ha...Droopy you are a nutcase! You made me laugh to weakness. (( :D )) You sure can paint a picture.

Great harvest, EJ! They all looked so nice and clean...and delicious.

Alythough the end of my frozen stuff is not in sight, the active things that I still have in the garden are only ythe Leeks and the purple sprouting broccoli.
Your stuff looks very healthy and sooooooo delish!
