I went to a couple of thrift shops today. The only thing I got was some plates and saucers for mosaics. I got two clear saucers to use in totems. I also got a wooen plaque to mosaic. I thought I would try something simple first. So first chance I have out comes the hammer and I am gonna break the plates and give it a try. I am just not all that good at co-ordinating colors and stuff, but we'll see.
I thought about doing one but I'm so clumsy I would cut myself so changed my mind.I'm going to try with tiles i think I do have lots of tiles but no colorful ones .I'm waiting to find some bright colors 3 or 4 probably do the trick. I'll be waiting to see your pictures as I know yours will be great.
I'm sure your creations will wow Sharon. See anything at the thrift shops that you wanted but said to yourself "Resist Sharon, resist!"?
Do think long and hard about your color scheme and pattern. That way you will be completely satisifed with the end result. Don't hesitate to ask others their opinion and then completely disregard it and go with what You like. My hubby says I always do this.
One thing I learned from quiltmaking is to go with your first plan as far as design and color goes. I would spend lots of time digging out other fabrics and thinking about changing the pattern but would finally go back to my original ideas and it worked every time. You can ask for opinions but like Bethie said ignore them and go with what looks right to you. Also, don't let yourself get stuck thinking that you have to follow natures color scheme...think outside the box. :-D
Can't wait to see what you come up with. Remeber it only has to please you not anyone else so go with what you like.
Thanks for the advice ladies. I don't know when I will get to start on this, I have so much else going on. Maybe the inspiration will hit and I will go with it. "See anything at the thrift shops that you wanted but said to yourself "Resist Sharon, resist!"? Only about a dozen or so things Frank. I could have bought a ton of dished for mosaics to start with. And I just ignored the glass for totems. Of course, if I had seen an outstanding piece it would have come home with me.
