My honey got me a tomato plant! I was so excited to try my hand at growing them, but am also terrified that I may not do the right thing. They are turning red when they are still small and the green ones are getting spots on them. I was going to purchase something last night at The Home Depot, but didn't want to get the wrong thing. Can anyone tell me what may be causing these spots so that I can stop it? Also, can I make them grow any bigger before getting ripe and red?
I think it's blossom end rot and it's caused by uneven watering. You might like to add some mulch on top of your soil which will reduce evaporation, and keep them evenly moist. That's nice looking soil, by the way.
