Bought this this past summer at a garage sale where the neighbour was moving. Couldn't take it with her so it was outside being garage saled. She didn't know what it was however the long strapping leaves appealed to me so it now resides in the spare room. Anybody have any idea what this plant is? It has multiple stalks in the same pot. I'm not sure if they're attached to each other or not but there are actually 6 stalks coming up. Thoughts or ideas as to what this plant is?
I agree. Looks like a clivia miniata. I love mine BTW. Beautiful orange blossoms followed by interesting red seed berries. Some clivias have peach or yellow blossoms but yours looks like the orange species. I actually prefer them.
Clivia miniata (Kaffir Lily, Fire Lily, Bush Lily) I may have to look for one of those, that is gorgeous.
Toni they are. And they are really easy to care for too. Only problem they have is that they are susceptible to mealybugs. Otherwise they are low maintenance.
Thanks for the ID. I bought this guy at a garage sale this past summer. Kinda suspected from my own research that it was a clivia but wasn't sure. The lady I bought it from had no info on it at all. She just wanted it gone. There are probably 6 plant stalks in the one pot and the soil isn't overly deep so I might just lift it up high(er) and add some more soil to it come spring and leave it all 'as is' with all the stalks together. It seems pretty hardy and has done well in the back window for the past 4 or so months. Will keep a watch though for mealy bugs.
