Bret bought me a Fuji finepix for Christmas. Not sure if I like it or not?? I need to take the time, read the owner's manual and try to get it figured out. I am not patient when it comes to this kind of stuff

I have had a Cannon Rebel for 7 years, excellent camera. No problems. Technology has however, improved so that the newer cameras have more light gathering capability. Under less than ideal lighting, newer cameras often do not need a flash.

I have a Canon 500D,after having moved up from the 350D a few years ago. I'm still very pleased with the shots I get with it and have never had any trouble with it even after almost 17,000 shutter activations.

Have you done any research on your Nikon and lens availabilty? I would have thought that your $600 would have been a model that extra lenses are available for...

Another option to a zoom lens is to build a hide and get physically closer to the birds...

I wish I had known when I paid over $600 for the Nikon. This model couldn't add a bigger zoom. Told them wanted to down the road to take (((close))) up of the birds and butterflies- farther away. Lady at Best Buy new her stuff. So be watching for some great pictures. :D
