This past Saturday we had a doosey of a wind and rain storm. It started around 4:00pm with just light rain and thunder. Then at 4:30 it really let loose. Wind about 50 miles an hour, rain, and small hail. It was raining and blowing so hard I couldn't see our barn that isn't to far from the house. When the wind finally let up we looked out our patio door and saw this.

In the lower left hand corner of this pic. in another tree that blew over. It was an Austrian pine that was snapped off right at the base.

In next pic it is kind of hard to see. But the tree fell between our two veggie gardens. Our main garden is on the left of the tree and a smaller one on the right. I did have to straighten up two of our tomato plants but nothing else was damaged. Thank the Lord.
When my hubby saw it laying in the yard his first comment was: Boy, I wish I had seen it blow over. I guess it would have been sort of neat seeing as it didn't damage anything. Just gave us a few days project getting it cut up and hauled away. :stew1:

You certainly got lucky with those trees not causing any damage.

Oh, I'm so sorry you lost two trees, but I'm certainly glad no other damage was done, and that you and your husband are safe. Don't work too hard getting rid of the tree debris--eventually it will rot down! :D

CheryL;Yes we were very blessed not to have anymore damage.

MarlinG I posted another post on what happened with our tree clean up. Not sure if we will leave the stump of cut it down. Woodpeckers love those rotting trunks.

What a shame you had to lose those two trees Tooty. However, I'm glad that all you had to do was straighten a couple of tomato plants. Things could have been so much worse if the fallen tree had flattened all you veggies.
Thankfully you and your husband weren't injured in any way.
Take it easy with the clear up - after all those trees won't be going anywhere else in a hurry will they?

    Me to Donna.

Eileen that is so true. If the tree had broken off closer to the ground our main veggie garden would have gotten flattened. Yes we are still working on the clean up. Front yard looked like it was attacked by leaves and smaller branch's that broke off some of the trees out there. Oh well, I will have to look at it as exercise. Kind of like doing squats. But a lot of them. :stew1:

When you posted this started looking for pictures of storm that hit us 14 years ago. I miss our big trees. Kept house lot cooler-tire swings in the one.And drought got to get more dirt-where huge root ball was ground has sunken there.

Philip & Koszta yes it is sad when you loose a larger tree as this one. But again we are thankful that nothing else was damaged. :stew1:
