What decorative tree is this? It grows well in the shadow of other trees. Direct sunlight for long periods bleaches it into a yellowish white, and the leaves don't even grow very big, (sometimes all the leaves get burned and fall off if it's too bright).

It's used as a decorative tree in shopping malls and other places that have artificial lights. Or in areas of the garden which doesn't get a lot of direct sunlight.

I think it is propagated by by cuttings. It's always lightest green in color when compared to other shades of green in the garden.

Anyway after the heavy downpour, this tree is now growing like crazy. I wish I knew what it's actual botanical name is - Plant nursery people over here often give plants a different name, (their way of misdirection, so that you don't find out where they got it from, and how cheaply)...

I like it because it's share of green is very pleasing to the eye. It can be very fast growing too, if it gets plenty of water and fertilizer. But it's a very delicate soft wood tree, (so strong winds can easily damage it).

Usually they are in large containers, so they are no taller then 10 feet. But I have seen some as tall as 20 feet also, which were planted in the ground and were very well looked after.

Here is an example of them growing in containers outside a shop.

It looks like laurel to me and with a lot of different names, it can grow very tall and evergreen.
Here usually used as hedging because it can grow fast.

No, leaves of the plant I am talking about are paper thin. Not thick and juicy.

Around here cafes and restaurants have Laurus Nobilis (Patio Bay Tree) outside their premises. Maybe this is the tree you show in your photographs.

Yes, of course I can go to the plant nurseries and ask - But after the coronavirus pandemic ends, (not before)...

    FOUND IT!!!

It's commonly called Birdlime tree, and it's a native of Andaman Islands in northeastern Indian Ocean, (but has migrated elsewhere in the region too, hence it arriving here about 25 years ago). That's why it's growing so well in my tropical climate. As it's not bothered by heat, nor the salty environment by the coast. Wikipedia link below has more information about it.

PlantNet app (free) on the phone from Google Play Store (Android version) identified it for me within seconds!

S-H the pic of your tree is a beautiful. I am not familiar with the species of trees that grow in your area. You might ask the nearest horticulture dept at a college to help with the ID. Send them a pic. Ask for the scientific name that way you can look it up and be sure of it’s a proper ID.
There are also many ID apps available to help ID plants.

S-H looks like you found the ID…:smt023

I couldn't approach anyone anywhere, as when I started this thread, (July 2020), COVID-19 was in full swing. So everyone was in lockdown...

Today however, I just looked it up on a plant ID app.
