The "freebie" table at work... and a couple of co-workers who have plenty of stuff to share!
This is what I got today.

I got Shasta Daisies, Society Garlic, Blue Plumbago (to replace mine that seem to be dead), and a lily (she said her mom just called it a Tiger Lily).
So, I rushed home from work to get them in the ground before the rains get here (which it's starting to rain right now).
Sometimes... I just love going to my job!
    :D

Today it was good to work where you work, those are great looking plants.

If the Lily is growing from a bulb then it is a true Lily - Lilium and would be a Tiger Lily.
If the roots instead of a bulb then it is a Daylily - Hemerocallis and the orange one could be one with the common name of Ditch Lily or Orange Daylily.

The rain just started here, I was beginning to think we were in another of those bare patches in the storm and would stay high and dry.

Now Jerry... you should know me well enough by now to know that pictures will follow! :-D

Toni... Yep... today was a good day at the freebie table. Whatever you have to get rid of you can put there. There's been everything from ketchup to lamps... swiss chard to cookies... jewelry to junk!
The "lily" has already bloomed. And was just about root bound. I think she said it was orange. But the leaves reminded me more of an Easter or Asiatic Lily. Guess we'll find out next year (if it survives).
(Glad you're getting some of the rain too!)

Any vacancies going at your place of work by any chance? If there are any let me know and I'll book a flight ASAP.
The only 'freebies' I ever got from being a veterinary nurse were ... FLEAS!! :D

    Thanks Eileen, Michael and Deanna!
It sure cured my "itch" for some new plants.
I gotta tell you though... that Society Garlic stinks! Poor Kate's SUV will have to be aired out for days! :smt022
I had to put in the back of the truck for the ride home.

    " the freebie table "

What a great idea. Sitting here wondering who I should mention this to at my place of employment in order to get the idea rolling. We do have a place where people bring their books and magazines. I've picked up a few good ones and got rid of a few of mine.

The "freebie" table came about from my boss. She attends lots of conferences and travels to destinations to write feature articles for our newspaper. And she is always getting promo items... t-shirts, pens, flash drives, etc. So she would put them out and everything was up for grabs. Then, when someone else was doing "spring cleaning" they brought in stuff to giveaway. Someone's husband bought the wrong kind of soup so that was even put out there! Whatever doesn't get claimed after a few days gets donated to a local charity's thrift store.
So now, even seeds and plants have made it to the table (those don't last long, as you can well imagine!)
Tooty... will certainly watch the Daisies...my co-worker was thinning hers out... that's why she brought them in.
