It's early October and my garden is thinking it's Spring so I have color. These aren't blooming but they are green so that beats the brown I lived with for months. New Chicks at the feeder ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) Corner section got a re-work and still needs a little more. That ring of plates was going to be a Cornflower bed but I have tried for three years and they just won't grow for me. So there are Snapdragons and a Butterfly puddle. And I finally got the shoe path markers planted. Cheryl, I had to trim back the Baby Sunrose you sent me, that's some of it in the pot on the right. ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) I know some call them weeds and rip them out at first sight but I quite like them so they get to stay. Wild Daisies ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) I had to rework this bed last month what I planted last spring didn't make through the summer. Bed under front window ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) The new Iris I bought a couple of weekends ago around the water fountain New Iris and water fountain ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) I find that I really do like Moss Rose, the colors are so varied and they bloom constantly. I plan on having pots of them on top of all my rain barrels from now on. Moss Rose ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) I have been dividing the original clump for a couple of years and now have 6 nice stands of them. Tall variety of Mexican Petunia ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) The Passionflower Vine is really putting out some beauties this fall. So far there have been 15 blooms but darn it, some of them bloomed during the night and I missed them, they are only fully open for a short time. Really hope they set fruit this year! Very pretty Toni. Better late than never huh? My annuals (which will be finished soon) have started to bloom profusely since the scorching heat has subsided. It was a long, hot summer eh?
I didnt know that mexican petunias stood that high.I have the small ones but , will look out for taller ones too now.Very nice!
Looking very good, Toni. It appears that you are coming into bloom as I am fading. You have some really nice-looking plants there.
Toni... I know what you mean. I've got all sorts of new growth since the temperatures dropped below "fire and brimstone". I've been waiting to see your Hens & Chicks in that old feeder. That's going to look awesome once they all spread their wings. I still like your idea of the "ring of plates" but around here, I'm sure they'd just get broken. Happy to hear that the Baby Sunrose was doing well enough to get trimmed. Mine are taking over their the plant stands. Some are drooping... others are like they are climbing. I have no clue what to do with them, except "let 'em be"... for now. I like your Wild Daisies... if they aren't smothering something... then why not let them grow, especially if they can handle your dry and hot summers. Oh boy! A new fountain! Looks like a witches cauldron to me. And I totally agree about the Moss Rose. I have some here and there just because they were on the markdown rack. I think I'll make it a point to add more here and there. I've yet to see anyone around here with the tall Mexican Petunias. I think I'd rather them instead of the clumping ones that spread so easily. Your's is such a pretty purple too. I bet you're feeling better about your garden now that it's not baking to death.
Got a good chuckle from the 'chicks in the feeder', and really like the 'old plates' as a border idea.. Hank
Now that's what I call a great idea for an old chicken feeder. You come up with some smashing ideas Toni.
Can you all imagine how wonderful Toni's gardens would look if she actually got rain and wasn't being burned up by that mean old sun?
It's all so cute. I love the blue shoes. I have work boots, left in my home, from the original owner of my home. When he comes back to visit the neighborhood I always tell him that no one could fill his boots but I sure try, I keep little plants in them out in the garden for the summer. He gets the biggest kick out of it. I also have an old small jacket and hat that were left for junk by him. I washed them and they have been hanging on a hook on the wall for years now. It's comforting to have it there. Barb in Pa.
