Hey all, I am relatively new to gardening, I wonder if you can share what's the best way to grow tomatoes? Does the fertilizer matter? Thank you,
Hey There J, Welcome. I see that no none has yet responded to your query, so I will offer this. I can't say if this way is the BEST way...but it is the way that I do it. Have a look at these links: http://www.gardenstew.com/threads/tommie-time.32749/#post-298451 http://www.gardenstew.com/threads/in-go-the-toms.37132/#post-338847 http://www.gardenstew.com/threads/finally-the-toms-are-planted.35656/ In terms of fertilizer---yes it most certainly does matter, for toms are heavy eaters and during their most strong growing period, you may have to feed them every other day. even. I have written on here often about the ferts that I use for these hungry plants. The main thing are the elements K, MgSo4. the P and N are also important but in lesser amounts. We can talk further about this if you wish, but first you have to have blossoms before you begin with feeding supplementation and pruning. Good luck mate. Let us hear how it goes with your toms, oké? p.s. Since you are new here, I will include this link mostly to entertain you...there is a bit about tom pruning in there, however. http://www.gardenstew.com/threads/im-just-singing-in-the-rain.22578/#post-203110
Tomatoes are really pretty simple. It would help to know what your location is. Not all methods are right for all areas. And as Sjoerd said,, we welcome you to the forum. Just tell us what your basics are,,soil, water, sun, ect and we will try to assist.
Thanks for the endorsement, Cayu. What a sweet lady you are. I just hope that J. comes back to read the responses to her question.
