OK, I admit it. Getting dressed on my day off is the last thought of the day. A cup of java and I am out walking the backyard and the next thing I know I am pulling weeds and messing in the garden. wickedly good cork bottom slippers ( photo / image / picture from Jewell's Garden ) Pajamas and my wickedly good cork bottom slippers are my usual attire. Boy was I upset when LL Bean quit carrying my slippers. Fortunately they have seen their mistake and I will be getting a new pair when they are in stock in mid May. Fortunately I am not as picky about my pajama's as long as I have a comfy sweater for our brisk climate.
Jewell... have you been peeking into my garden on the weekends? I look forward to days that I don't have to leave the house. I'll put on my comfy-est, worn-out, don't care if they get dirty or torn, clothes. Shoes... I hate 'em! So I'm usually in flip-flops. And some days it's noon before I even remember I'm still in my pajamas. I have yet been embarrassed because someone has stopped by. Heck... if they're coming here in the first place, they know how I am, right?
Guilty, guilty, guilty I prefer to have on shorts and a tee shirt but sometimes I'll see something that just has to be taken care of and then that leads to something else and...I do stay in the back yard though!!! I'd hate to scare the neighbors if I ventured out to the front yard in my jammies
So glad to find kindred gardening hearts! most of my garden is fortunately in a very private back yard? The scary thing is I live in a "walking neighborhood" and occasionally 'forget myself'. I'm probably known as a crazy lady, but they do peak into the front yard flowers year around.
HI, at my place I have a compulsory winter gardening uniform and a compulsory summer one, the winter one is[used to be] blue shorts, T shirt, old gym shoes...the summer one is[used to be] white shorts T shirt, old gym shoes, and of course the compulsory hat which suits the summer and the winter uniform.
During winter I wear old, baggy trousers, wellies and a thick (paint smeared jersey) but in summer it's different. I then wear old, baggy trousers, slippers and a T. shirt (also paint smeared.) Who wants to dress up to go play in the dirt anyway?
I have been known to garden in PJ's and had to run and hide behind LP tank when mail-man came. Right now-would have to add shoe shoes.
I don't recall ever gardening in my PJ's, but I have gardened in my bathing suit! Usually, I am in shorts and a t-shirt.
flip flops and shorts and tee shirts don't go out much in the winter I live on a main hwy so no pjs here but have before at my other place
Love the variety of gardening attire :-D Netty I would never be brave enough to garden in a bathing suit Some things for this body are best left covered with full length nighties. Although I do try to get into the sweat pants and hoodies occasionally. Eileen mine are also paint smeared and stained. DB, SM and I envy you being able to garden in flipflops and shorts. Even in summer it isn't often warm enough for that unless I am working really really hard (which is seldom). Rockhound I've thought of getting a pair of Crocs. Seems you like them I might have to give them a try. the fleece on my gets dirty over time. How are the crocs without socks??? KozKid, I can identify with the hiding part. Here I am thinking no one is around and then some one pops up. People like cats should maybe wear bells? Guess it doesn't matter what your wearing as long as we can get our hands in the soil....except for the guy next door 30 years ago that used to garden in the nude. Thats why there is ivy covering that fence today (even though he moved aways 29 years ago)
During the spring I wear an old sweater that has a a lot of holes. It is still warm but it is not a favorite of my wife. I do not wear gloves as I like to feel soil in between my fingers. Everything gets dirty and it's all fun. Everything goes into the washing machine except me. Jerry
Got to get my old slip on shoes ready. So can take off at door. And knee pads. Jerry gets after about being on knees but can't weed bent over. Says that what hoes are made for.Might be working in beds today.Do not care if muddy.
