We had storms come through last night and the humidity is about 98% today. Had to put up a new mail box today. A coyple of months ago, kids whacked the old one with a broom stck and caved the side of it in. The mailman complained about it and I told him instead of complaining to me, why don't they catch the SOB's that caved it in and make them replace it. I have an indestructable mailbox that I could put up. It's made out of 1/8th inch boiler plate, even the flag. I had it up and 2 days after I put it up, there was a piece of broken broom handle laying on the ground by it. I hope his hands stung for hours. They left it alone for 4 or 5 years. Now there is a new crop of kids doing it.

Amazing how those destructive habits tend to resurrect themselves. I'm glad you've got that spare mail box to put up, Capt.

Good luck with the new mailbox. Randy's folks eventually had to get a post office box, it got expensive replacing the mailbox out in front of their house.

Definately put the new one up CK. What a pity you can't rig up a hidden camera to see what happens to them the next time they whack it with a broom handle. I hope their hands and arms ache for weeks after they try to dent it. :D

What is it with the kids these days - the same type of phenomenon is playing itself out here by us. One Friday night about two weeks ago, our whole street had their letterboxes vandalized. SOme were even dug up by the little hooligans. I was lucky since my four-legged babies made a racket and the little hooligans did not get their way with my letterbox.
I think it is sad that children get up to such ugly pasttimes. There are so many better things to do. THey do not realize it yet - tiem is just too precious to waste being so destructive.
CK - nice one with the indestructable mailbox.
