I found a couple pictures to share. This is a drawing of me that my mom did. It's colored pencil on papyrus paper. The photo it is based on was taken right after riding horses with my dad, when I was about..... 3 to 4 years old. This is a photo of Heather and I on our first day of kindergarten. Our mothers were close friends and thought it would be fun to color coordinate us. I blame her for my obsession with all that is black and white. That's me on the right. My hair is in a side ponytail because I thought it would be clever to use bar soap as shampoo while I was in the bath one day. I washed my hair so well that I got a bald spot. Heather and I are close friends to this day. In fact, we refer to each other as "my other sister." Most of my childhood stories include her in some way.
That picture your mother did is extrodinary.I love it and that kitty is almost as big as you. I do wish you and my Heather could meet.I think you two would hit it off great. She has a friend like your Heather but her name is Christie.I think ya'll are just so cute together.
Thank you! I take all compliments towards my mother's art very personally. Her work has been a huge part of my life and quite a positive influence for me. She's self taught. She's been doing drawings and paintings of this quality since she was in high school. She's got a website that my boyfriend built and he and I moderate. I'll share the link.... but just to let you know, he wrote out all the code by hand so there are a few flaws that we are working on fixing. A whole new layout is in the works. www.pamearleywine.com Your Heather lives in Billings, am I correct? I'm sure we will meet at some point. P.S. That was Mama Cat. She was one of my favourite cats.
Yes,she lives in Billings and has two little boys and frequents the Scrapbook stores. For sure WalMarts Target and Coscos. She also Takes classes to become a Medical coder.
Ooooh boys! I love kids. I am a nanny, going to college to be a child psychologist. Childcare is the only job I know. Let her know I'm available to babysit.
Oh WOW your mothers drawings are so detailed and have so much character - I love them!! Has she passed her talent for drawing on to you by any chance egoreise?
Mom does the drawings and paintings, and Dad does the poetry (which he performs at the Cowboy Poetry Festival in Elko, Nevada every year that he can make it). So us kids pretty much HAD to get talent somewhere, we have always been surrounded by it. My older sister is a painter and a writer, my brother is a poet, and I work with mixed media, mostly. My sister always jokes that her mind sees a 2D canvas, and mine sees a 3D canvas. The crafty stuff comes naturally to me, and I can do a lot of abstract drawings.... but you won't see me doing anything as realistic as Mom's work! I've also got a younger sister with Asperger's syndrome. She's 10. You know the drawing stages that little ones go through as their brains develop? They scribble, then you see a circle with facial features randomly placed in it, then pretty soon stick figures... you know. Anyway... my sister skipped all that. Her first drawings had anatomically correct people with extreme details in the eyes, and dragons with scales covering their bodies.
Oh, my, oh, my, I love that drawing of you. It's so sweet and plain beautiful! I adore the cat's expression. It looks like she'd rather be somewhere else. Your mother's work is breathtaking. Those horses are so wonderfully detailed. I love the ibex painting, and the swans too. I can't paint or draw, and artistry like that has me drooling!
I love the swans, too! She lives in Cape Cod now, so she has plenty of subjects like that to work with. I've been sending her photos of the geese here in Billings... so hopefully we'll be seeing more of them.
Your mothers drawing is awesome. And self taught...that is amazing. She had a cute little girl as a model.
Wow, your mothers drawing is so wonderful. My DD#1 can draw, not quite to that extent but pretty close and she's also self taught. She's currently a drafter working for an architechal engineering firm. Such talent is such a gift I think. I love the horses and the swan as well but I really love that lighthouse. She is truely gifted.
