Hello everyone. I know it has been a few days since I have been on. Last Monday (6/2) we had a tornado warning, with sirens and all at 2am. Of course this wakes you out of a dead sleep. We ran around grabbing clothes and animals and running for the basement (what can I say, we are from Alaska where you don't get tornadoes). As soon as we got into the basement, the sirens stopped, so back up to the living to watch tv and see what is going on. Nothing actually touched down, so nothing was damaged...except for my sleeping habits. We have had pretty good thunderstorms coming through periodically since then and everytime I lay awake now, waiting for that stupid siren to go off. Then Thursday evening(6/5), our internet service went out on us. So I had to call for that on Friday and they didn't send anyone to fix it, until Saturday. My hubby bear had to work on Saturday and while brushing his teeth at 6am, he had a filling fall out of one of his wisdom teeth. Of course no dentist is open on Saturday, so he had to wait until Monday. So on Monday, he called the place he got the filling done at, and the soonest they would get him in was 2 1/2 weeks from now. Needless to say he was somewhat upset. So we called around and to make a long story short, he got into an oral surgeon Monday morning at 11am. They numbed him all up, started working on it and then my husband said he heard a "snap". Then the surgeon, said a few curse words. You know that things are not good at this point. Well when they were working on pulling the tooth, it snapped in half and punctured a hole into the sinus cavity. So they had to tranplant tissue from his cheek into the hole to repair it. Then they finished up and sent him on his way. So they put him on anitbiotics as a preventative deal (penicillin) and pain killers with coedine. Tuesday morning, hubby had an allergic reaction to the coedine! :-? So I stayed home with him, called the dentist for a new pain killer prescription, rushed to the store and bought benadryl, rushed home and made him take two immediately. Then I had to go back to the store to get the new prescription after it was filled. Needless to say, hubby had to take the week off from work, because he can't hardly function on the new meds. He had one of the stitches come loose on Tuesday, so he had string bugging the back of his throat until Wednesday. Wednesday morning, back to the surgeon for a check up. Pulled the loose stitch out and sent us on our way. See you again on Friday. So everything is going a little better. Hubby brushed teeth this morning and another stitch fell out...good thing his appointment was only an hour away. Surgeon said everything still looks good, so no worries. He has to go back again in a week. In the meantime we are now on Flood Watch here in Quincy. Luckily where we live in town, it shouldn't affect us as far as our house goes. However if it gets too high, it could compromise the water supply. My in-laws live across this river and there is a good chance their house may take damage from this, but lucky for them, they are on vacation in Oregon. So we may end up having to go over and check it out to see how things are progressing, although there isn't much we could really do. They are supposed to be closing one of our two bridges that connects us to Missouri (from Illinois) today or Monday. We got more rain this morning and I guess that doesn't help the situation either (again no floods really in Alaska, so this is also new to us). Anyway back on the internet, hubby is doing good at the moment, my garden seems to be doing alright, and we will cross our fingers about the flooding issue.
That's a lot of things happening in a very short time! Wishing you luck on the flood warning, may it never happen. And speedy recovery to your husband. I sincerely hope your next week will be very uneventful and boring. I have a feeling I would like that if I were in your shoes.
I also forgot to mention that I was taking pictures of my garden today with my digital camera. I tried to also take pictures of the Maidenhair Fern I bought and of course my digital camera doesn't like close ups of anything...and the batteries started dying on me. So I drug out my 35mm camera, hoping it will take better pictures (it usually does)....and low and behold the batteries in it are dead too! :-x So off to the store I go after work to stock up on batteries for my cameras! Yes hopefully my life will become somewhat uneventful after this week. I don't mind when things happen because it keeps life interesting...but could we please space out it out a little bit. It can be a bit overwhelming to have your allotment of "stuff to go wrong" happen all in one week.
