One has too many flowers when you move into a new place with two pallets of starts, and a passer-by stops to ask when your nursery will be open!
I came to the farm with about 40 of my "favorites" and the word went out that we were opening a nursery here.

I know I have too many flowers when I can't squeeze any more into my gardens. That's when I start planting in pots :)

No I am not sure either...could someone explain that please?
Diificult for a 'greedy' gardener to understand.A 'greedy' gardener is one who likes a bit of everything, I am pretty sure I qualify.

one area can't keep up with weeds. in one area Didn't care how hot it was. put ice pack in my hat. Weeding away. And seen very pretty day lily- :D saying about time Lady. I use to call myself Baume rThe plopper. No reading about how plants spread. I have since learned hard way. Weed I have seen in lot of people's garden. Like Morning glory-will vine around plants and bend them over. Have seen any flowers on them.

Well, I don't know. I either find a place for it here, or give away any extras. Occasionally, I can sell some, but no official nursery here yet. I do have potted plants by my driveway in case any passersby are interested? Most of my plants make lots of babies, especially rose of sharon bushes and dame's rockets and day lilies... and the oxeye daisies! I don't know about too many plants, but I am short of space for them occassionally. ;)

What a great thread! 'You know you have to many flowers when....' For me it is when my beds are all too much of a hodge-podge because I couldn't resist this plant or that plant.

I'm sure the plants will tell me when there are too many. Until then I will keep planting and dreaming. Hmmmm, I wonder if plants can dream?

And I wonder if the dreams would vary by plant species...ie, would daylilies have dreams punctuated by diurnal openings & closings & would poison ivy have clingy dreams of climbing? Maybe they all would have nightmares during gypsy moth season....
