    Donna,
They are a bit larger (6"x3") than you specified, but I use zipper lock snack bags. They are clear plastic, have a double zipper lock, and can be written on with a Sharpie or a piece of paper with name and notations can be enclosed with the seeds. I get them at the grocery store, 50 bags for about $2.29.

Does everyone keep seeds in plastic zip locks here? I had horrible luck with seeds going moldy in plastic so I always use envelopes now. Just wondering ...

Netty, I should have explained. The plastic bags are for for mailing seeds. I put them in the bag with an explanatory description on a piece of paper, and mail them in a heavy envelope. The ones I keep for my own garden are in old seed packages with the name marked out and the new one written in indelible marker.

A craft store such as Michael's, Pat Catans or Hobby Lobby...are the best place for getting the smaller size bags. That is where I got mine for another project a few years ago.

Ah, I was wondering that too about keeping seeds in plastic. I have always just used the little manila envelopes - I think I got them at the office supply store.

I save the little desiccant packets that come in bottles of vitamins, etc. Put one of those in the plastic bags to keep the moisture under control.

I have always either saved seeds in plastic med's bottles or put them in the little plastic bags. But I do let my seeds sit out in an open container for 2 wks before I package them up. So I have never had any problems with mold. That is great info about being able to get those smaller baggies at Hobby Lobby. When mine run out I will know where to go. :stew1:
