My garden interest is inherited. My mother is incredably knowledgable. She's a pain sometimes, but who's mother isn't?

Here are a few views from her garden, taken from late May onward:

I thought you could only see gardens like that in magazines, simply amazing. Does you Mom take care of all of that herself. What are the two plants behind the hosta's in the fourth picture.

Thank you for the nice comments. The garden is her pride and joy. :-D

It's a red hanging beech tree.

Yes, she does. The one furthest to the left is a red Berberis, and the dark one in the back is the hanging beech. There are two cone spruces too, and a variegated holly.

Simply stunning gardens your mother has. I love the hillside garden with the view of the mountains off in the distance.

When my mother planted this, she was told to tie it up to as tall as she wanted it. She only had a broom shaft available and never got around to prolonging it, so the beech started its hanging growth about 1 meter (3 ft) short of how tall my mother wanted it... :D

Actually, it's not hilly but flat. The rhododendrons in the back make the optical illusion because they are so tall. I'm glad your eye was fooled, because that's the effect she's been after.

Fantastic! Love the peony and those tall, tall lillies. The mountains in the background are the most fabulous backdrop that I can only dream of. Wonderful!

Thanks, EJ. The tall lilies are x marhan, a cross between martagon lilies (the ones in front) and lilium hansonii. Do you know it?

    Re: I can't stop looking!!!

Sorry I didn't see your post before...

We live in northwestern Norway, where the fjords are deep and the mountains tall. And the weather... well.

Glendann - thank you very much, I'll tell her you said so. :)
