And why I like it. I live on 3 acres in the country in central Ohio, USA. My land once belonged to my parents and is where I grew up. I built here about 25 years ago. After my parents passed on, the 120 acre farm passed onto me and my 2 brothers. One of the neighbors was cash renting the land and wanted to buy it. The house and barns and 6 acres of non-farm land was sold seperately. Last year the guy put the 30 acre field behind my house into the land bank. The govt. would pay him more to not plant it, than he could make growing crops on it. He planted it to prairie grasses and some wild flowers. Here is what that field looked like today, The flowers are wild rudebeckia and there are 2 different kind. These are the brown eyed susans. And these are the copper ones.
Just gorgeous, Capt. The central plains area of the US is loosing so many acres of prairie grasses and plants to agriculture it is nice to see some going back to natural.
There's nothing better than wild flower meadows. As the years pass and bird, animals and the wind bring in seeds it's just going to look fantastic with new plants appearing all the time. What a wonderful sight it must be in real life.
Before I walked into the field to look at it, I thought maybe it was wild mustard growing. What a surprise to see that it is rudebeckia.
Now i like that,, nature is so beautiful and that really shows it,, i love your back yard...hope it stays that way for a long long time.
