Which Hawk or ?

    I saw this majestic bird this morning, just roosting on the power pole about 200 yards or more. I never saw it fly. is it a Harrier Hawk ?

    Those shoulder bands look like that's a possibility. Hard to tell with it fluffed up in the cold.

    Look at the brown markings at the top of the wings and the photo of the adult female Harrier Hawk on this page... http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/northern_harrier/id

    They do resemble each other and being fluffed up would make the tail look shorter.

    But check out Hawks at that website to see if any others look like better possibilities.
