Hi Florist--I prefer landscape roses as they tend to bloom all season and seem freer from disease. 'Meiggili Peach Drift' is my current favorite. I like it better than the various 'Knock-Out' roses flooding the market these days. More floriferous & hardier. A climber that I really like is the old Rosa 'Zephirine Drouhin' because it will bloom even in less than 1/2 sun. It is also relatively thornless and disease free.
My favorite is "The Fairy". I received it in a swap. It isn't very tall. Maybe 24". The canes grow more hortizonal. It blooms most of the summer. I have propagated this rose several times. After a stem of roses fades, I snip the flowers off and go down a few inches, snip and stick it in the ground near Mama rose. Mama shades it. Keep the ground damp.
I used to grow the T roses so it has been many years since I grew roses. I gave up on them because they were always needing to be sprayed with something and I quit using chemicals here. I have picked up a few miniature roses through the years and just put them in containers.
I have had a beautiful Peony apparance rose called Sceptered Isle as a standard, At the moment I have a standard rose called Brother Cadfial. Brother Cadfael ( photo / image / picture from kate's Garden ) A rose called happy Birthday which is for my late sister, its a new rose...white. Image later, its in bud at the moment. I did have Septered Isle rose as a standard. Septered Isle ( photo / image / picture from kate's Garden ) A rose I want is 'Happy Retirement. happy Retirement ( photo / image / picture from kate's Garden ) I also would love a deep red rose as a half - standard, saw one the other day.
Definitely "Zepherin Droughin" for me too! Not only is it almost thornless it is pink and fragrant The "Sceptered Isle" is gorgeous! Is it fragrant?
Happy Retirement is also a beauty...I have not seen a rose that I didn't like. I used to have an orange one over 20 years ago that was one of my many favorites.
Happy retirement; my sister has that rose, I never saw so many roses and for so long....all summer... it never stops flowering. They do that rose in a half standard as well. I was pretty excited and relieved yesterday to see my new Brother Cadfial rose has buds at long last. I had to move it during the summer and it sulked, none opened yet but there are buds...there are buds...phew!!
My favorite is the knockout rose. They are so easy to take care of and the blooms never seem to stop coming. I've seen red, yellow and pink, but I like red the bedt.
I would like the Duchesse de Berry Rose. I like the vivid pink color. http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=2.1660.0
