I really like the white crowned sparrow, especially when its singing. It was singing on the post till I stopped to take a picture.

A very handsome little bird Kildale. Our House sparrows are in decline in many areas and I haven't seen one in the garden for a couple of years now.

Great photo of a sweet bird! We have them here and they are always welcome at our feeders.
They do seem fond of perching on fences!

Eileen, I think all your sparrows have come over here.

You could be right Kildale. :-D I really don't know why they are missing in my area as I've seen them around other villages near by. :-? My daughter has them nesting underneath the tiles on her roof - she lives in Edinburgh. I do have Dunnocks/Hedge sparrows and a few Tree sparrows though.

Wow, that is a lot of different sparrows. Do you get a lot of migratory birds?

Hi Jerry, we do get a couple coming in for the summer, the chipping sparrow and the American goldfinch. Most though are here the year round. During the winter we get a lot of ducks from the prairies.

The Sparrow in the first photo looks like he could be sentry on duty... standing up straight and proud.
