This is exciting!! Something new, only in your garden, a unique variety.

I will keep my fingers crossed Mart, good luck,

    Jerry

P.S. Let us know when i can uncross them. At my age they get stiff easily.

LOL ! Join the crew ! My bones creak every time I move. Just give my melons time to grow and you can uncross them. I will keep everyone informed of their progress. Only two came up last year from cantaloupe seed I had saved from the year before. Have no idea what they are. Nothing like them anywhere I have found. I thought a neighbor kid had lost a softball when I found it. It was that white. Inside was much better than the cantaloupes it came from !! Crisp, not mushy, after a week in fridge. Tasted a bit like cantaloupe but yet,,different. Had nothing it might have crossed with, just watermelons and cantaloupes.

Good luck with the melons. Don't loose the seeds if the breed true :-D I've never seen so few seeds/bulbs in the shops as this year. How am I supposed to get the great sales deals?

I'm not stiff jointed. I like crawling around in the dirt :D like an infant ;) it matches my sense of well being.

Hi mart, Have you ever grown silvervine? It's an heirloom melon, light green, fairly smooth, ribbed similar to a cantelope, has a white interior, crunchy, slightly fragrant, but not incredibly flavorful and oval, about the size of a softball. I have few volunteers popping up in my one garden every year. i just let them grow hoping to get an excellent one. Anyhow I hope yours are much better than these. Put up a picture as soon as you can.

I have never heard of silvervine. This one is white outside Very faint ribbing but it got to almost 4 lbs. I put it in the fridge and ate on it for almost two weeks and it was just as good as the day I cleaned it. No overwhelming smell like cantaloupe and very crisp.
If it doesn`t reproduce itself,,,well,,lets just say there will be a LOT of cantaloupes !!
