The past holiday season had many decorations that provided a festive atmosphere, putting everyone in the holiday mood. Often those decorations involve arraignments of colorful greenery. Floral displays with pieces of holly, pine or other evergreens. We purchased several at a local church fair and they graced tables and windows through the season. One by one however their time was finished and they found their way to the brush pile in the back yard. Except one……. green as the day we bought it two months ago the one lone evergreen stands, the last surviver from a table arrangement. Inkberry? Does anyone know? Whatever it is, it is long lasting when cut and put in water. It also has small flowers growing out of the center of the leaves, top and bottom. Is this a parasite? Hi, the name is ruscus/butchers broom.I grow it here in the shade. It will have a red berry after the flower if it is grown in cold countries...never seen it here.Loved by florists for the keeping ability. Sometimes it is referred to here as a tick bush because looks like there is a tick on the leaf. After all that it is quite interesting plant dont you think.Maybe you can strike that piece leftover.
