Besides me, of course. All during the bad part of this past summer I swore up and down that I would not order plants this Fall, I would stick with annuals next Spring since they were just going to die soon anyway. Well, cool weather and the hint of rain coming had me changing my mind earlier this month...no real surprise I guess since I am a great believer in Fall planting and a sucker for the plant catalogs that come in the mail. 5 plants coming from High Country Gardens, they specialize in water wise plants!! Crinum bulbispermum Thymus praecox ssp. arcticus 'Coccineus' Salvia farinacea 'Texas Violet' Agastache cana 'Sinning' Cotula sp. 'Tiffindell Gold' And 5 coming from The Growers Exchange. Feverfew Echinacea purpurea 'Magnus' St. John's Wort Tansy Achillea millefolium I know I could grow some of these from seeds in the Spring but with the hot weather hitting so quickly putting plants in the ground in the Fall is the best for me. All set to come in the first two weeks of October so I have plenty of time to get beds ready.
I placed two orders. One for an Ice Cream Tulip (for my old ice cream maker/planter) and some Oriental Lilies.
I have an order coming BUT it's not for me. My daughter is setting up her first real garden and I've ordered her: 25 English Bluebells 50 Single Snowdrops 50 Crocus 50 mixed Narcissi 50 Anemone (St Brigid mix) 15 Apricot Beauty Tulips 25 Allium Superglobe mix That should give her a good head start!! :-D
I just got an email from The Growers Exchange letting me know that the grower has not been able to produce a crop of Feverfew that meets their standards and asked if I wanted a refund or a substitute. I subbed Roman Chamomile.
I picked up red tulips at Menards. Shocked very big bulbs. Now to find just right place. Got to move some Globe masters.
