We will install a completely Whole house humidifier due to the very dry air. There are two options that I know of bypass and powered.
I read that the powered supply may be better because it can work when the HVAC system is not.
Does anyone have experience and can they provide?
    Money is not a factor.

We have the exact opposite problem here, and seek to remove humidity. I have learned the the separate operation is desirable, and that moisture moves rapidly through suprisingly large cubic volumes of air per hour. We locate our small unit in the garage, and in 24 hours it will moderate our 2 story home. The moral is that it probably does not need to be big powerful machine.

I prefer to go with a powered whole house humidifier because the ductwork looks much simpler than a bypass so I would probably do install myself...
If someone else were doing the installation and they were both at the same price, they would probably go with a bypass since there are fewer moving parts to break.

I'm in the same position as Dirtmechanic. Always trying to get humidity OUT of the air here.

Here, introducing moisture into a fiberglass lined duct system would propagate mold.

I think ductless AC is the best way by which you can remove humidity in the air.
