Yes, a whole cornfield has been relocated to take advantage of the remaining days of 'summer heat.' As unseasonably warm temperatures bask the New England countryside I have moved the popcorn field outside. The plants will soak up the remaining solar energy from the sun, which, according to schedule, has shifted its latitude to the south. :-( Being portable has advantages, however, over a planted field as it can be taken inside during inclement weather. A single grow light can sustain the whole cornfield on cloudy days. Another example of 'Yankee Ingenuity'
More photos will follow the progress as the cornstalks rise into the Winter sky, followed by a popcorn party in the spring.

    The eternal optimist,

    Jerry

Jerry, since you are relatively new at this cornfield thing, I must tell you that you need to start shopping for a tractor right now. I hear Tonka makes a reliable machine.

I use to work for Sperry Corporation and at that time they were researching guidance systems for Sperry New Holland combines. We did lots of 'field trials' on fields of corn with a very expensive and totally underutilized New Holland combine.

Jerry were the Hutterites doing the farming with that machinery? I have heard they do an enormous amount of field trials for the equipment manufacturers. I think I heard they do almost all, or a lot of,John Deere's new equipment prototypes and field testing. I thought the concept of this quite ingenuous of the equipment companies to try this way(if that was their idea). Aren't you glad your little field has no need for a piece of equipment that size? Ertle all the way for you, huh?
