The entire bed of my pickup truck is filled with plants from the gardens of that demolished house! Oh, did I hit the jackpot! Here's the rundown: - 7 rosebushes ( no blooms yet so they're going to be surprises) - approx. 200 daffodil & tulip plants - dozens of different varieties of hostas - 3 huge bleeding heart clumps - approx. 25 oriental lilies - 2 big clumps of peonys ( no buds yet; so again, they'll be surprises) - 5 huge clumps of daylilies - clumps of columbine - 2 azalea bushes - 1 big honeysuckle vine Also, there are several gigantic hydrangea bushes that were just too big for us to dig; so after plying the workers over there with 6-packs of beer & sodas, they kindly offered to dig them out for me & i'll pick them up tomorrow morning. It feels just like Christmas!!
Yes, netty, it really is amazing! It's the first haul of that magnitude i've ever been lucky enough to cash in on.Thank goodness my thinking cap was on yesterday a.m. & I pulled over to ask what was going to happen with the gardens!
Wow, that sounds like the haul of the century. You will certainly have fun planning and planting. Good luck!! Jerry
Gosh you certainly found a real treasure trove there. Well done for having the forethought to ask what was happening to the garden.
I'm just silly with happiness tonight! Called my son in upstate NY, who has 5 acres & is a dedicated gardener as well.... and he's very excited, too.....because he KNOWS mom's gonna share!
So glad all those plants were rescued. It always makes me heart sick to see established gardens plowed under. You did good on multiple levels
You know i'm a bit of a maniac in the garden.... I have 18 stitches on right arm from having a skin-cancer removed this past Thurs.... did that stop me from this treasure trove of plants? Of course not... I wrapped the whole forearm in plastic & taped it so it wouldn't get dirty & paid the neighbor's teen son $20.00 to do the digging & heavy lifting!
Excellent job all around Luv! I probably wouldn't be able to sleep planning and plotting on what to do with everything.
Wow more plants than in most gardens,..well done and congrats on the bounty,..like Jewell i also hate to see plants being plowed under or let die,..i hope they all thrive for you.
